Last Friday we found an Osama with truly stellar credentials - Dr Usama Hassan, whom we met at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich before heading down to Leyton mosque where he serves as Imam. Highlights of our day with Dr Hassan included ancient telescopes, astrolabes and talk of celestial phenomena. I left gorgeous Greenwich with its soaring views over London feeling inspired and promised myself I'd pay more attention to the heavens in future. I wonder how different the starry sky will look from our next destination across the world?

Visited several of his lectures at the Royal Observatory as well as talks and Friday sermons at the Mosque...a refreshing change from the norm-nuff said!! Its not just astronomy that tickles his fancy..try engaging him in poetry, nuclear physics, artificial intelligence, sufism ,arabic language and Arsenal...even has degrees in several of these!! Great find TeamOsama!!
Hey Usamabincuttin,
There is a plan to get the Usamas together when Farrah and Masood return from their trip around the world.
Watch this space...
I'm rather facinated by the star Sirius myself...are there any plans to get the Usamas together at any point? I would love to talk to this particular Usama about astronomy, particularly re Astrology...he seems to know a thing or two!
He's a really engaging, warm teacher - good find!
Hi ArkAngel,
Dr. Usama Hasan is a planetarium lecturer at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich.
Does this Usama work at the Observatory? or is he into astronomy more as a hobby?
